Do-Overs...What if you could have just one....What would it be? Why?
by Terry inas we grow older and have more life experience we have an advantage in looking at our life as a whole.. we can see things from more than one perspective.
we can be wiser as our emotions cool.
hindsight gives us the power to judge outcomes.. for example, i was thinking about a 20 year chunk of my life.

Whenever the "I wish that I never I had never been a JW thing" comes up my reasoning is similar to yours. I can't really say if things would have turned out better or worse. I would have never have met my wife who even though she is a JW is still my best friend. I would have never met a lot of my friends if I hadn't been a JW. And then there are all people I got to know online because of our Watchtower connection. My life overall is pretty right now. Change anything and it could be a lot worse. Maybe all things do happen for a purpose. Who knows? I think it is a good idea not to be too quick to judge what events in our lives are good or bad.

Venting some rage and pain.
by jemba inmy father the coboe and much loved member of the cult has ignored me and my children 17yrs and 8yrs old for much of my life and all of my kids lives.
i hate that religion for taking my father away and i hate him for being sucked in and putting all his love, time and kindness into the org and the stupid dubs and leaving himself too tired and uninterested in us.
my kids dont have grandparents, my mum is ok, she rings me once a month but kinda ignores my kids, just gives em $50 each a yr as a substitute for love and attention.. .

Unfortunately we can't force them to wake up and see the destruction this evil cult causing to them and their families. Or see how they are waisting they lives in it. All we can do is go on with our own lives and vent about it every so often when it reaches the boiling point. At least most of us here can understand exactly what you are saying and why you are so angry about it so vent away.

Where does all the JW money go?
by LouBelle ini want to know.. does every kingdom hall, bethel and assembly hall belong to the watchtower, bible & tract society?.
each of those kingdom halls, bethels etc are built with the money obtained by that country's contributions.
if a loan is needed the bothers of that specific congregation pay off the loan.. the society has then an extremely huge amount of property worth billions of $$$$ who has control of all those funds?

It ain't cheap running a world wide religious cult that's trying to enslave mankind. And why do you need to know? Just trust in Joe Hova and keep pushing his magazine and books.

I was depressed for at least my last few years in the WT. I wasn't sure why I guess deep down I just didn't believe it anymore. Near the end all I wanted to do was be a normal person and do normal things. I was tired of being a freak. I was tired of parroting religious nonsense. Why we don't do holidays. Why we look the way we do. Why we waste our weekends bothering people. I was sick of it all and I knew that it was driving me crazy. It was pretty rough at first because of the way they are brainwashed to treat those who leave but I was happy for the first time in years knew I'd made the right decision to pull the plug on them.

Could it be possible that people here might respect the beliefs and ideas of others
If there respectable. why not?
On the Rooibos tea. Trader Joe's has a great seasonal Rooibos tea, Pumpkin Spice. It comes in an orange tin. I think it is only $3.99.

What if you could just walk away? No DF'ing or Shunning?
by QuestioningEverything inif i could tell my mom and other family jw's that i wasn't going back, didn't believe it and wanted to move on with my life without worrying about being df'd or shunned, i'd do it in a heartbeat.. but, that is not the case.
wonder how many the wtbs would lose if they changed their policy on this?
how many of you would have left sooner if there were 'no strings attached' to the wt?.

The Watchtower claims the purpose is to cause those who stray to see the error of their ways and repent but the real truth is that the purpose of shunning is to keep witnesses in fear of leaving if they start having doubts. It is a very effective way of controling people.
Recently on this board I mentioned my second cousin on my wife side of the family. When she left about four years ago her parents turned their back on her. She knew I was a Jdub at one time who left and she wanted to contact me. No one would give her my number. My wife had her number but didn't want to give it to me. They still try to control you after you leave. It really is quite the evil system.
One channel on Direct TV is running a program called " The Mormon Candidate". It is about Mitt but it cover how Morons treat those who leave the church. Very similar to what the Dubs do.
